- From February 12 to 14, AGROSAVIA’s Tibaitatá Research Center, located at km 14 on the Mosquera road, will host the Agroecology Meeting – Central Region.
- This strategic forum will bring together social and peasant organizations, producers, public entities, academia, international cooperation agencies, and territorial stakeholders to advance the implementation of the Public Policy on Agroecology promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR).
Mosquera, Cundinamarca, February 12, 2026. The Agroecology Meeting – Central Region aims to strengthen regional coordination around agroecology through dialogue, knowledge exchange, and the collective development of inputs that translate into concrete actions in the territories, in alignment with the Agrarian Reform and the principles of sustainability, governance, and agrobiodiversity. This initiative is the result of coordinated efforts between the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR), and AGROSAVIA, institutions that combine technical and institutional capacities to make progress on the implementation of the Public Policy on Agroecology and consolidate sustainable and resilient production models in the country.
The meeting is held within the framework of the Technical Cooperation Agreement CD 014-2025 signed between IICA and MADR, a strategic alliance that, under IICA’s technical leadership, coordinates efforts to strengthen the National Agricultural Innovation System (SNIA) and enhance the competitiveness of agricultural and aquaculture value chains through sustainable, territorially focused production models. In this context, AGROSAVIA contributes to the fulfillment of the agreement through the development and execution of the event, consolidating a platform for coordination where, over three days, agroecological and peasant organizations, public entities, academia, international cooperation agencies, and strategic stakeholders will address the main policy guidelines, ranging from knowledge management and productive transition to territorial governance and the conservation of agrobiodiversity, with the purpose of establishing regional agreements that strengthen food sovereignty and security and contribute concretely to action in response to the climate crisis.
As a central component of the agenda, a visit to AGROSAVIA’s Tibaitatá Research Center will take place, where participants will explore concrete experiences in applied agroecology, including the apiculture showcase, the silvopastoral module, germplasm banks, and seed and biopreparation laboratories, demonstrating how science, innovation, and traditional knowledge converge to provide real solutions for sustainable food production and biodiversity conservation. In this way, the meeting is consolidated as a strategic platform to strengthen coordination among communities, the State, and research institutions, and to advance in the sustainable transformation of Colombia’s rural sector.
