Mosquera, Cundinamarca. February 10, 2026. In an effort to enhance the productivity and sustainability of livestock farming in the Colombian high tropics, an innovative course focused on the efficient management of pastures that form bovine production systems in this region was launched by the Tibaitatá Research Center. The main objective of this initiative is to provide participants with in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge on sustainable pasture management, essential for the success of livestock farming.
The course, which will address seven specialized modules, will cover a wide range of key topics for optimizing pasture management in the Colombian high tropics. From soil and forage analysis to integrated pest and disease management, including pasture renovation and establishment; participants will acquire essential skills and knowledge to improve the productivity and sustainability of their bovine production systems.
One of the standout aspects of the course is its practical and applied approach. Participants will have the opportunity to put the knowledge acquired into practice through 40 hours of independent virtual work, spread over seven weeks. This approach allows for a thorough assimilation of concepts and their direct application in the field.
The course is designed for individuals with prior experience in bovine production systems in the high tropics, but it is also open to students, extension agents, technical assistants, and members of organizations related to the milk and meat value chain in cold climates.
Registration for this course will be open until March 8, 2026. Click here to access the course pre-registration link.
This course is part of a broader project aimed at promoting sustainable livestock farming in the Colombian high tropics. Participant selection criteria focus on their occupation related to the agricultural sector and their access to the internet, thus ensuring that those directly involved in livestock farming can access this training, which is essential for the development and transformation of the sector in the region.
