AGROSAVIA presents its scientific and technological portfolio at the II International Conference on Agrarian Reform and Rural Development ICARRD+20, with a comprehensive commitment to Agrarian Reform and sustainable rural development
  • Cartagena de Indias will serve as the epicenter of the II International Conference on Agrarian Reform and Rural Development, ICARRD+20 [II Conferencia Internacional de Reforma Agraria y Desarrollo Rural], from February 20 to 28.
  • AGROSAVIA is participating with a strategic agenda to position science, innovation, and technology transfer as fundamental pillars for the structural transformation of rural Colombia.

Cartagena, Bolívar. February 23, 2026. The Conference, which brings together delegations from more than 100 countries, multilateral organizations, academia, Indigenous peoples, producers, and civil society, constitutes a global platform to renew commitments related to land governance, food security, and inclusive rural development.

AGROSAVIA has two stands at the Conference:

A stand in the “Land for All” Zone, featuring an expanded experience, direct interaction with producers, technology showcases, and a pedagogical narrative tailored to diverse audiences.

An institutional stand at the Main Conference, strategically located at the exit of the central auditorium, focused on high-level engagement, executive messaging, and technical dialogue with decision-makers, international cooperation actors, and official delegations.

Applied science for an Agrarian Reform with tangible impact

AGROSAVIA structures its participation around three conceptual pillars aligned with the event’s official narrative: Land to Work, Land to Eat, and Land for Life, consolidating a vision in which access to land is complemented by access to knowledge, innovation, and technological solutions.

Throughout the week, the Corporation will present more than 200 technological solutions, its nationwide coverage through its Research Centers and Regional Offices, and methodologies for technology transfer and social appropriation of knowledge that connect science with rural territories.

Under the approach “Land is not only distributed: it is strengthened through knowledge,” the February 24 agenda, dedicated to Land to Work, highlights the technological portfolio as a concrete tool to strengthen agrarian reform hubs and agricultural districts. Real cases demonstrate measurable impacts on productivity, quality, and market access.

On February 25, within the Land to Eat pillar, the Corporation highlights its work strengthening the National Seed System, the Minimum Plan, and local seed systems, as well as developing bioproducts and bio-inputs that increase productivity and reduce environmental impacts. The central message is clear: food sovereignty requires quality seeds and applied science.

On February 26, under the Land for Life pillar, AGROSAVIA presents the Territorial Innovation Systems (TIS), which currently impact 10 territories and more than 5,000 families. This model integrates science, ancestral knowledge, agroecology, and intersectionality to strengthen community autonomy and resilience in the face of climate change.

On February 27 and 28, under the Land for All narrative, the Corporation integrates the three strategic pillars and presents tangible territorial impact results, including experiences of yam and vegetable producers engaged in innovation and agroecological processes. The closing emphasizes evidence of impact, productive sustainability, and collective action as foundations for responsible and equitable land tenure.

Participation in the official academic agenda

In addition to its institutional presence, AGROSAVIA leads and actively participates in academic forums and strategic dialogue spaces within the Conference.

On February 25, it organizes a panel discussion titled “Comprehensive Agrarian Reform: Challenges for Innovation and Technology Transfer,” with the participation of institutional and academic experts.

On February 27, hosts the event “Transforming Rural Territories: Agroecology as a Strategy for Agrarian Reform,” featuring international leaders in agroecology.

Through this participation, AGROSAVIA reaffirms its role as a leading entity in agricultural research and technology transfer in Colombia and consolidates its commitment to building a more competitive, inclusive, and sustainable rural development model.
