AGROSAVIA renews and is recognized as a Research Center
  • AGROSAVIA has renewed its recognition as a research center for five years thanks to the task of keeping the platforms updated and up to date with Minciencias' processes.

Bogota, Capital District. November 15, 2023. The Ministry of Science of Colombia granted, through resolution No. 1972 of October 10, 2023, the renewal and recognition as a Research Center for five years to Corporación colombiana de investigación agropecuaria – AGROSAVIA.

Thanks to the task of keeping the platforms updated and being up to date with Minciencias' processes, AGROSAVIA has renewed its recognition as a Research Center for five years from today, allowing the corporation to access a variety of programs and funding calls, increase its visibility nationally and internationally, be part of collaboration networks with other research centers, universities, and public and private sector entities, as well as generating confidence in the quality and relevance of research results, consolidating its role in science, technology, and innovation nationally and internationally as a leading actor in the generation and transfer of scientific and technological knowledge to transform the agricultural sector.

AGROSAVIA received this recognition for the first time in 2018, guided by the measurement model that Minciencias implemented since then, and for which it also launches calls for the recognition of research groups and researchers. In this context, great challenges are likely to strengthen research and its relevance through measurement, monitoring, and evaluation processes.

Diego Hernándo Florez, Head of the Scientific and Technological Intelligence and Dissemination Department of AGROSAVIA, added, "The recognition allows us to maintain and enhance the visibility and positioning in the National System of Science, Technology and Innovation (SNCTI, for its acronym in Spanish) of the country, that is, to continue being considered a key actor for the generation of knowledge and technologies relevant for the agricultural sector with scientific and technical quality. Not having this recognition would limit our access to differential research resources, limit us in the probability of success in competitive calls that have the added value criterion of being a recognized actor, and limit our participation in international networks promoted by Minciencias. In conclusion, this distinction allows us to continue being a leading actor and part of the "Dream Team" of Colombian science for the growth of Research, Development, and Innovation (R+D+i) with purpose and awareness focused on impact, and one of the key leaders and allies for the SNCTI and the National Agroindustrial Innovation System (SNIA, for its acronym in Spanish)."
