Cereté, Córdoba. November 7, 2025. Corporación colombiana de investigación agropecuaria (AGROSAVIA) will host the IV International Technology Transfer Seminar: Generational Integration in Agricultural Extension on November 11, at the Turipaná Research Center (Cereté, Córdoba). This year's event will focus on two main areas:
First, there will be an exchange of experiences with guests from Costa Rica, Peru, and Colombia, who will discuss key elements in generational integration within extension processes, their challenges, and recommendations.
In line with this, there will be a second segment for the official launch of the microsite "AGROSAVIA Updates Agricultural Extension," a new digital platform designed to strengthen knowledge management and connect agricultural science arising from the interaction between research and extension.
The event, which will be broadcast live on AGROSAVIA TV on YouTube, will mark a milestone in how agricultural research aligns with extension, offering participants an overview of the main technological, social, and methodological advances driving generational turnover in Colombia's rural areas.
A Platform for Updates and Connecting Science with the Territory
The microsite, available under the "Science for All" section of the website www.agrosavia.co, will showcase the results and impacts of AGROSAVIA's national update program for extensionists, highlighting its coverage in regions prioritized by national policies such as PDET (Development Programs with a Territorial Approach), ZOMAC (Areas Most Affected by the Armed Conflict), and the Agrarian Reform districts.
The site will also integrate four update paths designed to guide training and capacity-building efforts in the field:
- Resilient agri-food systems
- Sustainable animal production
- Sustainable management of soil and water
- Information systems and extension methodologies
With this tool, AGROSAVIA aims to advance agricultural extension in Colombia towards a more modern, collaborative, and evidence-based model, facilitating decision-making and promoting rural innovation.
The Seminar: A Space for Dialogue, Reflection, and Microsite Launch
The launch of the microsite will be incorporated into the seminar's academic activities as a response to the need for a digital space that consolidates and shares the progress of science applied to rural development, strengthening the connection between knowledge, the territory, and rural youth. Since its inception in 2022, this series of seminars has become a key platform for exchanging experiences and collectively building knowledge on the transfer and adoption of technologies in the agricultural sector.
According to Juan Francisco Romero, Coordinator of Technology Transfer and Adoption at AGROSAVIA, "At the Corporation, we see this microsite as a valuable opportunity to bring together all the actors in agricultural extension: not only those who provide this service but also producers, promoters, farmers, decision-makers, and others who contribute to the sector's technical transformation. Its location in the 'Science for All' section of agrosavia.co reflects the connection we aim to highlight between research and extension, where there must be a constant dialogue to ensure that scientific advances reach every corner of rural areas, thanks to the extraordinary influence of extension agents."
With this significant event, which will also mark the microsite's launch, AGROSAVIA reaffirms its commitment to transforming Colombia's rural areas through knowledge, strengthening the capacity of rural actors, and promoting the democratization of knowledge for a more sustainable and inclusive agriculture.
