ASCOLFI and AGROSAVIA invite the community to the Theoretical-Practical Workshop on Diagnosis and Characterization Methods of Phytopathogens

Mosquera, Cundinamarca. April 26, 2023. ASCOLFI (Asociación Colombiana de Fitopatología y Ciencias Afines) and AGROSAVIA (Corporación colombiana de investigación agropecuaria) have once again joined forces to offer a theoretical-practical workshop on Diagnosis and Characterization Methods of Phytopathogens, with the aim of updating the knowledge of professionals, researchers, and the academic community interested in the etiology, epidemiology, and diagnosis of the phytopathogens of most significant economic and social importance in the country.

 

This workshop, organized by ASCOLFI, will take place from May 3 to 5, 2023, at the Tibaitatá Research Center, located in Mosquera, Cundinamarca, and will be attended by keynote speakers with great national experience in the areas of phytopathology and molecular biology, who will be in charge of 12 keynote conferences, in which the most recent research on the detection and diagnosis of pathogens of agricultural importance will be presented.

 

The diagnosis and timely detection of these pathogens will allow the development of management strategies to face the limitations they generate in the country’s main productive systems. Among the most economically and socially important phytopathogens on which the different keynote lectures will focus are Fusarium R4T in bananas, Ralstonia sp., the banana streak virus (BSV), and the cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) in Musaceae; Verticillium sp. and phytoplasmas in avocado and potato; Phytophthora sp. in Solanaceae; Fusarium oxysporum and nematodes in export flowers, among others.

This workshop is aimed at postgraduate students, professionals, and researchers in the agricultural and biological sciences specialized in the areas of phytopathology and molecular biology from the most important universities, institutions, and research entities in the country.
