The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation highlighted that, “the social appropriation of science, technology and innovation is an intentional process of understanding the relationship between science, technology and society. The generation and use of knowledge must be built from the participation of different actors, based on their own contexts and needs, which is expected to empower society with this knowledge” (Franco-Avellaneda and Pérez-Bustos, 2010, cited by Daza-Caicedo et al., 2017).
