Corporación Colombiana de Investigación Agropecuaria – AGROSAVIA, in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Government of Norte de Santander, and the Mayor’s Office of Ocaña, invites producers, technicians, researchers, entrepreneurs, and the community at large to participate in EXPOAGROSAVIA Catatumbo 2025, the experiential science fair for Colombian agriculture.
The event will take place on Saturday, September 27, opening at 9:00 a.m. in Ocaña’s Main Park, where attendees will experience unique activities centered on one of the region’s emblematic products: cacao.
Science and Territory: An Innovation Approach
EXPOAGROSAVIA Catatumbo is part of the Territorial Innovation Systems (STI) strategy, which seeks to strengthen local capacities through collaboration among producers, institutions, the private sector, and science. This model recognizes the cultural and productive richness of each region and promotes collectively built solutions to transform Colombia’s countryside.
Experiential Activities Around Cacao
The fair will offer practical and dynamic spaces where visitors can interact directly with researchers, producers, and innovative technologies. The entire experience will focus on cacao and will be organized around four thematic axes:
- Bioeconomy: Sustainable alternatives to use cacao/cocoa and its derivatives, generating added value and new market opportunities.
- Food Security: Contributions of cacao and agroforestry systems to the well-being and nutrition of rural communities.
- Climate Change: Adaptation and mitigation practices that strengthen the resilience of production systems.
- Impact on Communities: Stories and experiences that demonstrate how cacao drives social, cultural, and economic development in Catatumbo.
A Space to Connect and Transform
EXPOAGROSAVIA Catatumbo 2025 will be a stage to discover technologies, exchange knowledge on innovation, and, above all, build collaboration networks that boost the region’s productivity and sustainability.
