Villavicencio, Meta. April 11, 2023. On March 10, 2023, at the Municipal Library of Granada, Meta, the Public Private Alliance (PPA) for the cultivation of the Tahiti acid lime was signed in an articulated work with the departmental government headed by the secretary of agriculture and rural development, José Paulino Zárate, the Secretary for Competitiveness and Economic Development, Wilson Fernando Salgado, and USAID's Land for Prosperity program, in addition to other organizations, such as ART, ICA, Banco Agrario, producers, exporters and municipal entities such as the Mayor's Office of Puerto Lleras and Puerto Lopez, among others.
When launching one of the fruit crops with the highest expectation in the department of Meta, a PPA was signed in which different actors committed to improving the quality of life of producer families through food security and sovereignty participated. This collaboration will benefit about 210 producers, two exporting companies, and more than 30 marketing companies nationwide. This agreement is established with the purpose of strengthening the growth of the productive chain for the department of Meta with demand from national and international markets, as well as accompanying, making visible, linking, and socializing strategies that generate benefits for the producers of this citrus fruit.

In developing the agenda, senior Ph.D. researcher Javier Orlando Orduz from La Libertad Research Center presented the technological development for establishing this crop in the Llanos Orientales region. Furthermore, the technological offers and recommendations generated by AGROSAVIA for the region in three decades provide the technological elements for crop management and the implementation of good practices and strategies to face the new challenges of agribusiness. On the other hand, the regional innovation coordinator, Alejandra Rondón, is the person who signed the public-private alliance formalizing it to allow the establishment of new routes and export markets that promises to double production in the next four years.
