Pacho, Cundinamarca, Experiences Rural Transformation with ExpoAgrosavia
  • Featuring experiences in smart agriculture, sustainable livestock, panela production, and bio-inputs, among others, ExpoAgrosavia Pacho emerges as a meeting point where science engages with the community to strengthen sustainability and project the rural future of the Rionegro province.

Pacho, Cundinamarca, September 25, 2025. ExpoAgrosavia arrives in Pacho, creating a space where science connects with rural life to transform production systems and contribute to the sustainability of the territory. The initiative, led by AGROSAVIA’s Tibaitatá Research Center, is integrated into the First Municipal Science, Technology, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship Fair (STI+E) “Our Common Home, a Treasure to Discover,” organized by the Mayor’s Office of Pacho.

On October 4 and 5, the inhabitants of Pacho and the Rionegro province will gather at the town’s main square to participate in hands-on experiences designed by AGROSAVIA, through which science translates into tangible solutions for the countryside:

  • AGROSAVIA’s Laboratory Network, offers specialized services to support more reliable decision-making and improve the productivity of agricultural systems.
  • Sustainable panela production, with innovations such as Cimpa-type sugar mills and energy evaluation of furnaces, aimed at optimizing efficiency, reducing environmental impact, and ensuring higher-quality panela with improved market competitiveness.
  • Sustainable livestock, with technological tools and practices to boost productivity, including multi-nutritional blocks, digital platforms (NIRS and DIETRO), and guidelines for farm planning.
  • Smart agriculture, with immersive experiences through drones, spectral imaging, mobile applications, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices applied to farming.
  • Bio-input Consumption, a national campaign that promotes biological alternatives to chemical fertilizers and pesticides, reduces environmental impact and fosters healthier food production.
  • Germplasm Banks for Food and Agriculture, conserving plant, animal, and microbial genetic diversity to ensure food security and resilience to climate change.
  • Seed Plan [Plan Semilla], showcasing the variety of seeds worked with communities in the Cundinamarca node, along with a practical demonstration of the importance of producing and using quality seeds to strengthen food security and sovereignty.

“Pacho Innova” Forum

As part of the academic agenda, on October 2 at 15:00 hours, the “Pacho Innova (Pacho Innovates): Science and Technology for a Sustainable Rural Future” Forum will take place at the Multipurpose Hall of Escuela de Artes y Letras (EAM) [the School of Arts and Letters (EAM)]. This space for dialogue among community leaders, academics, and authorities seeks to contribute to the formulation of the municipal public policy on STI.

AGROSAVIA invites the entire community of Pacho and the Rionegro province to join this fair, to experience directly the technologies and innovations already transforming the countryside.

We look forward to building together the sustainable rural future of Pacho and the Rionegro province!
