Producers from Santander and Norte de Santander may join the BIOINNOVA Páramos y Bosques Project

• AGROSAVIA opens a call to strengthen sustainable production systems in the Santurbán páramo and Catatumbo. 

 

Rionegro, Santander. August 24, 2026. Small- and medium-sized agricultural producers from Santander and Norte de Santander now have a new opportunity to strengthen their productive, commercial, and environmental capacities. AGROSAVIA has opened a call to select beneficiaries for the BIOINNOVA Páramos y Bosques project, an initiative that promotes bioinnovation, sustainability, and resilience in agricultural production systems across territories of strategic importance to the country. 

The invitation is addressed to producers from the municipalities of Tona, Suratá, Silos, and Mutiscua, within the area of influence of the Santurbán Páramo, as well as Teorama and Convención, in the Catatumbo region. Associations, cooperatives, and rural enterprises linked to these territories may also participate. 

The project is part of an initiative to improve the productivity, competitiveness, and resilience of agricultural production systems through the social appropriation of knowledge, technology transfer, and strengthened market strategies, all of which contribute to the well-being of rural communities and the conservation of strategic ecosystems. 

Who can participate? 

The call is addressed to producers involved in cocoa, potato, bunching onion, vegetable, fruit, and livestock production systems, who reside in the prioritized municipalities and are willing to actively participate in training processes, field days, and other activities included in the project. 

Selected beneficiaries will participate in capacity-building, knowledge transfer, and social appropriation of knowledge processes aimed at adopting sustainable production and low-impact agricultural practices, as well as activities focused on strengthening commercial and business capacities. 

 

A Project for the Sustainability of the Territories 

BIOINNOVA Páramos y Bosques seeks to promote solutions that integrate agricultural production with the conservation of strategic ecosystems, recognizing the fundamental role rural producers play in the sustainable management of the socio-ecological landscapes of the Santurbán Páramo and the tropical rainforest of Catatumbo. 

As part of the selection process, criteria such as the farm's location within prioritized areas, the relevance of the production system, presence in areas of environmental importance, and the participation of rural women and youth, producer organizations, and ethnic communities will be considered.
