Soursop continues to gain relevance in the agricultural industry, not only for its nutritional and medicinal properties but also for its use potential for fresh consumption and agroindustrial purposes. For this reason, Corporación colombiana de investigación agropecuaria - AGROSAVIA is leading a unique event this year for all those interested in learning about the latest trends, innovations, and studies on this tropical fruit, presenting its two cultivars, Agrosavia Fecunda and Agrosavia Tesoro.
The field day that will take place on November 26, 2024, at the facilities of the Palmira Research Center (Valle del Cauca) from 8:00 to 12:00 hours will bring together experts, producers, technical assistants, agricultural extensionists and representatives of industrial associations to share knowledge about the benefits of working with the promising cultivars developed by AGROSAVIA. An improved planting material for Colombia:
The two cultivars are suitable for the agroindustry and fresh consumption, and their planting is recommended for the departments of Caldas, Quindío, Risaralda, Cauca, and Valle del Cauca.
Agrosavia Tesoro stands out for having a total soluble solids content of 15.02° Brix and a titratable acidity (% citric acid) of 0.84%, giving it a balanced sweet and sour taste and a pulp yield between 66 and 68%. Its productive potential is 32.5 tons per hectare per year.
For its part, Agrosavia Fecunda has a total soluble solids content of 13.73° Brix, a titratable acidity (% citric acid) of 0.77%, pH of 3.94, and a pulp yield of 70.52%, with a production potential of 44.2 tons per hectare per year.
