Territorial System of Innovation - TSI with a differential approach of the Kamëntsá Biyá People of Sibundoy – Putumayo
  • Actions to increase the territorial resilience capacity are implemented by forming the Territorial System of Innovation - TSI with the Kamëntsá Biyá People of Sibundoy–Putumayo.

Within the framework of the Territorial System of Innovation - TSI formation with a differential approach of the Kamëntsá Biyá People of Sibundoy Putumayo, in an effort led by the Kamëntsá Biyá Cabildo (Council), the Ministry of Agriculture, and Corporación Colombiana de Investigación Agropecuaria AGROSAVIA, actions to increase the territorial resilience capacity are being implemented through five prioritized community-based strategies: 1) strengthen the community Jajañ "ancestral agri-food system" together with the participation of Enabuatambaÿëng "family working networks," 2) articulate with the Indigenous School Food Program PAE-I (for its acronym in Spanish) to make progress in the self-supply of the differential minute, 3) support the establishment of a conservation and production strategy for jajañ seeds, 4) open the community and territorial market of the Kamëntsá Biyá Cabildo of Sibundoy, and 5) consolidate baselines to transition to sustainable livestock and agriculture models in the reservation.

These lines of action are the result of the socioecological resilience evaluation carried out on September 8 and 9, 2023, in which the lack of mechanisms for the conservation of agrobiodiversity, the loss of food autonomy, the lack of support for enterprises based on the biodiversity of the territory and the unsustainability of innovations in agriculture and livestock in the reservation, among other 23 factors evaluated, were identified as critical points.

In this process, through community intercultural dialogues, the articulation and participation of SENA, ICA, ADR, the Departmental Education Secretariat (PAE Program), the UAPA School Feeding Administrative Unit, Fundación Suyusama, Instituto Tecnológico del Putumayo ITP, and the Municipal Mayor's Office of Sibundoy have been strengthened. These entities have contributed to consolidating the five lines through different management processes.

Henry Mavisoy, Project Researcher, pointed out that "including the differential approach in the formation of Territorial Systems of Innovation allows us to understand in depth the weaknesses and strengths that ancestral food systems face as well as to reflect on the necessary actions that are required in the territory to contribute to its cultural safeguard, intercultural management and articulation with different actors of the national system of agricultural innovation that will contribute to increasing territorial resilience."
