The Tibaitatá Research Center and the Ministry of CIT are exploring an alliance to promote energy efficiency in the country

Mosquera, Cundinamarca. August 2, 2023. The Tibaitatá Research Center of AGROSAVIA was selected by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism (CIT) for a face-to-face meeting with the aim of exploring its operation, governance model, infrastructure, services and sustainability policies. The visit took place on July 27 and was attended by representatives of Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Universidad de Antioquia, and the initiative Colombia Productiva of the Ministry of CIT.

During the day, the delegation of attendees had the opportunity to learn in detail about the operation of the Tibaitatá Research Center, highlighting its strengths in human talent, the Germplasm Bank System of the Nation, the network of seven laboratories, the research areas in the field, the research agenda, the services with national coverage, the technological showcases, as well as the socialization and meeting spaces, which include the Alejandro Ángel Escobar auditorium and different rooms with capacity for 563 people.

The representatives of AGROSAVIA shared valuable lessons learned by the four directors of the Departments of Intellectual Property, Intensive Sustainable Production Systems, Resources and Planning Alliances, Research Laboratories, Services, and Business Development, the Legal Office, as well as the administrative support team from the Tibaitatá Research Center and the research team that focused on socializing the lessons learned on organizational issues and sustainability of technology parks. These experiences left a positive impression on the visitors.

The meeting concluded with the interest expressed by the delegates to sign an alliance as soon as possible. As a result of the visit, a document was elaborated, highlighting the importance and impact of the Tibaitatá Research Center in the agricultural sector and for the country’s development.

This opportunity represents a significant step to establish collaboration with projects of the Program to strengthen and promote energy efficiency processes in industrial sectors with high demand for thermal energy in Colombia. These projects are funded by the French Development Agency (FDA), the European Community, and the Ministry of CIT itself. The alliance between AGROSAVIA and the Ministry of CIT could further promote the energy transition with an agribusiness approach, benefiting both the agricultural sector and the national industry.
