Descripción
It is an early maturing genotype, which flowers at 14 months and starts production 20 months after being established in the field. It is a clone. This variety is characterized by being self-compatible with hybrid-type genetics and has a high yield with an annual production of 3.3 kilograms per tree, starting four years after establishment. The pods are large, 32 centimeters long by 13 centimeters wide; they show a red hue with green pigmentation in the immature state, and orange and yellow colors stand out when mature. The pod index is approximately 10 pods to obtain 1 kilogram of dry cocoa. The average number of grains is 38 per pod, and the average grain rate is 3 grams per dry grain. Additionally, it presents pubescence in its terminal shoots, typical of high-quality genotypes such as Criollo types. Its flavor and aroma profile are characterized by presenting basic flavors with medium intensity, highlighting the cocoa flavor, fruity notes of citrus and yellow fruits, with walnut enhancement and notes of dehydrated fruit.
This variety is recommended for areas with low humidity, between 600 and 1,200 meters above sea level, with an average temperature of 26 °C and between 70 and 80% relative humidity. It is necessary to carry out efficient disease control to avoid the damage caused particularly by Monilia (Moniliophthora roreri).
