Description

This variety begins flowering at 20 months, and its production starts after 26 months once established in the field. The annual production is above 2.1 kilograms per tree, resulting in annual yields of more than 2,000 kilograms per hectare.

The pods are large, showing values of 31 cm long by 10 cm wide. Its immature fruits have a mottled red hue and orange when ripe. The average number of grains is 47 per pod; the grain index is an average dry weight of two grams. Regarding the pod index, 12 pods are required to obtain one kilogram of dry cocoa. This variety is self-incompatible, so it is necessary to establish it combined with TCS 19 or TCS 01 to obtain good performance. It has pendulous growth and is short (2.81 m). It is characterized by its low degree of affectation by Monilia (Moniliophthora roreri), with losses of 2.5 % with efficient agronomic management.

It is a high-yielding material with morphological features of fine and aromatic cocoas. It is characterized by presenting a balanced sensory profile, highlighting cocoa notes, accompanied by citrus fruit, bittersweet and dried fruits such as walnuts and almonds.

This variety was evaluated between 300 and 1,200 meters above sea level, with an average temperature between 22 and 26°C and relative humidity of 80%.

It is recommended for the departments of Boyacá, Norte de Santander, and Santander.
