Description
This technology consists of a set of technological recommendations for producing and managing citrus material in nurseries under protected conditions using an anti-aphid mesh house developed by AGROSAVIA. Guidelines are offered to the country's citrus nursery sector for producing citrus plants in the basic, registered, and certified categories in protected environments (mesh houses) to reduce the probability of the presence of insect vectors of systemic diseases such as HLB and CTV.
Recommendations include:
- Climatic characterization of the mesh house environments.
- Benefit, production, and storage of sexual seed from rootstocks.
- Use of sterile substrates, propagation, and multiplication of rootstocks and crowns, as well as the response of their different combinations.
- Management of fertilization in the different production stages (seedbed and rootstocks and crown development).
- Phytosanitary management of plants in protected conditions.
Applying these recommendations allows plants to maintain excellent development and quality (physical, physiological, genetic, and phytosanitary) from the nursery phase, which translates into the maximum potential for production and quality of the fruit in the crop. The technology will allow nursery operators to deliver material free of graft-transmitted diseases and vectors (HLB, CTV, Exocotris) to the country's citrus producers to replace unproductive orchards affected by HLB.
The technological offer supports the Citrus Certification Resolution 12816 of August 19, 2019, issued by ICA for the production process of sexual and vegetative citrus seed by Colombian nursery operators in the basic, registered, and certified categories in different country departments.
Its use is recommended in the departments of Valle del Cauca, Quindío, Risaralda, Caldas, Antioquia, Cundinamarca, Tolima, Santander, Huila, and Meta.
