Description

The use of this technology provides producers with alternatives for the clean management of this pest, allowing them to produce more quality fruit and access international markets for avocados with a low insecticide load.

The management recommendations for Monalonion velezangelis were established based on strategies with biological products, plant extracts, and new-generation commercial chemicals.

1. Biological products: the entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana has a mortality rate of up to 78% on the pest. It is recommended that the commercial dose be applied when the first populations of adults and nymphs of the pest are observed.
2. Plant extracts: the L'Ecomix extract (4 cc/L) has a mortality rate of up to 93.33% on the pest. It is recommended to apply when the first pest damage symptoms are observed.
3. Commercial chemicals: Chemical treatments have the highest mortality rates of the pest, up to 100%. The application of insecticides such as Imidacloprid and Thiamethoxam is recommended for high populations of pests and when the damage is very advanced. Treatment applications must ensure adequate coverage of the trees and be prepared according to the doses recommended in the product's technical data sheet to be used.

Its use is recommended for the departments of Antioquia, Caldas, and Quindío.
