Description
Biopesticide based on a granulovirus isolate for the control of the hornworm Erinnyis ello in natural rubber and cassava crops.
It is a product formulated as a wettable powder with ultraviolet light protectors, with a minimum concentration of 1x109 inclusion bodies per gram (CI/g), and compatible with agrochemicals.
It has an 80% efficacy for controlling the hornworm, as demonstrated at the laboratory, mesh house, and field levels in different agroecological conditions in rubber and cassava crops compared to crops without applications. Thanks to the decrease in losses caused by the insect, estimated at 30-50%, this allows a reduction in plant loss and an increase in production.
Additionally, the biopesticide has other advantages, including, among others, that it is the only viral biopesticide registered in Colombia for the control of the hornworm Erinnyis ello in rubber and cassava.
Erytec®, with its innovative formulation, does not require refrigeration and can maintain its shelf life for 12 months when stored at temperatures below 28°C. It has a persistence of at least seven days after application in field conditions with high rainfall, temperature, and UV radiation and is compatible with insecticides (Lufenuron, Diafenthiuron, and Chlorpyrifos) and fungicides (Carbendazim, Chlorothalonil, Benomyl, and Triadimenol).
It is a biopesticide that only affects the hornworm insect (E. ello), and thanks to this, it does not have a toxic effect on beneficial insects or any other species, including man (Toxicological category IV - slightly toxic).
Its use is recommended in the departments of Antioquia, Cundinamarca, Caldas, Tolima, Santander, Norte de Santander, Caquetá, Putumayo and Guaviare, Casanare, Meta, Vichada, Córdoba, and Bolívar.
