- Oil palm
- Geographic coverage:
-
Pacific and Caribbean region

Description
This hybrid offered for small and medium-sized palm producers results from crossing cerete-type Noli mothers and Yangambi-type Pisiferas fathers or Deli-type Duras parents. They show high tolerance to bud rot, early flowering between 18 and 22 months after planting in the field, and inflorescences in anthesis exposed in more than 60%, facilitating artificial pollination and cluster formation. With good agronomic management, the hybrid expresses potential productivity between 25 and 35 tons of fresh fruit bunches per hectare per year in the fifth year of production.
When carrying out assisted or artificial pollination, the proportion of parthenocarpic fruits (seedless) in the bunch can exceed 50% with pollen. With applications of alpha naphthaleneacetic acid (ANA), these can reach 99% of the bunch. In addition, the weight of the bunches increases between 30% to 50%, and its conformation is favored since there are low failure rates between 0.2% and 2.8%. With the application of the optimal harvest point for the cutting of bunches in stages 807 and 809 plus assisted pollination (pollen or ANA), this hybrid has the potential to achieve an industrial oil extraction rate of up to 26.3%, corresponding to a productive potential of 7.6 tons per hectare of crude palm oil.
For the O×G AGROSAVIA ELMIRA hybrid, a planting density of 115 palms per hectare is recommended in a triangle at a distance of 10 meters between palms.
Its use is recommended for the departments of Nariño, Atlántico, Cesar, La Guajira, and Magdalena.
