Description
The Creole potato Corpoica Sol Andina variety has an average production of 29.4 tons per hectare, and 60 % of its production are tubers corresponding to the largest sizes (first), round shaped, with intermediate yellow primary skin color, smooth texture, and intermediate eye depth that makes the washing process faster and simpler and results in a better and higher valuation for fresh marketing.
This potato variety stands out for containing a percentage of dry matter of 23 % and presenting a yield in chips of 30.01 %, in flour of 11.89 %, a percentage of proteins on a wet basis of 1.95 %, starch from 16.2 to 20 % and dry matter from 7.6 to 9.4 %, which make it suitable for agribusiness and fresh consumption. SOL ANDINA has excellent palatability characteristics such as good flavor, excellent texture, and a high degree of mealiness, allowing it to be included in frying processes and obtaining flour, starch, and flakes.
Regarding other varieties, Corpoica Sol Andina presents a 20 % reduction in applications to control potato blight.
