Description
The arracacha cultivar AGROSAVIA - La 22 has a production of 34.8 tons per hectare (± 13.8 tons per hectare) with completely yellow tuberous roots and no presence of purple tones.
Additionally, AGROSAVIA - La 22 is characterized by having greater tolerance to pests, mainly thrips, with less affectation compared to the yema de huevo [egg yolk] material and a lower percentage of incidence of foliar diseases, these being mainly Alternaria sp., Colletotrichum sp., and Cercospora sp. According to the Orbes and Becerra (1982) scale, the percentages of incidence of these diseases were 71 %, 41 %, and 5 %, respectively, for AGROSAVIA - La 22, while for the other materials, they were higher than 88 %, 66 %, and 8%.
This arracacha cultivar shows greater vegetative vigor, i.e., a faster foliar development that allows the closure of lanes in the early season, decreasing weed management control. Therefore, the demand for the wages (quantity) employed for weed management is lower by up to 16 % compared with the common yellow material, and the application of herbicides decreases by up to 25 %.
This cultivar is recommended for the departments of Tolima, Norte de Santander, Cundinamarca, and Boyacá.
