Solanum tuberosum

- Productive system:
- Potatoes
- Geographic coverage:
-
Andean Region

Description
The Agroclimatic Information System for Potato Cultivation (SIAP, for its Spanish acronym) is a technological tool that helps the different agents in the potato production chain make decisions.
SIAP allows the interpretation of climatic and meteorological information for some production areas in Cundinamarca and the monitoring and generation of alerts on water stress due to a deficit in the crop.
The development was carried out under a co-design approach, which identified the main information needs of agricultural producers related to the management of the agroclimatic risk of the crop.
It offers three groups of products:
Climate characterization: It includes a climatic characterization for the Sabana de Occidente area and the Municipality of Tenjo in the Department of Cundinamarca.
Models: It presents two models: water balance and carbon absorption.
Bioclimatic variables: It provides a series of bioclimatic variables, including accumulated degree days and the water requirement satisfaction index.
