Descripción
The cane transport system by cable in areas of high topographic slopes allows the cane to be transported from the plots to the mill to produce panela in less time, labor, and use of pack animals. AGROSAVIA has two cane transport systems by cable, and their implementation depends on the topographic and productive conditions:
- Self-propelled single cable. It is mainly composed of a drive system (motor, reducer, and brake), a cable line (single cable, carrier–tractor) between the forwarding stations at the end of all the lines, intermediate towers that support the cable with continuous movement, clamps fixed to the cable to hook the cane packages and, finally, a control system.
- Gravity-based monocable. It mainly comprises a fixed cable (carrying monocable) supported by intermediate towers. Pulleys with friction brakes move on the cable, allowing the transfer of the load or product. At the end of the cable line, a receipt system stops charging completely.
The cane transport system combined with very few mules allows savings in time and costs of transporting cane and the use of work animals, reducing soil compaction, the incidence of animal abuse, and reducing labor requirements.
