Description
The Corpoica Radical Jijí bean is a bush bean variety with I-A growth habit, whose vegetative period ranges between 90 and 95 days. The radical type commercial grain has a bright solid red color, is medium-sized with a rounded shape, and the weight of 100 seeds at 14 % humidity is 53 grams. The average yield of this bean variety is 1.66 tons per hectare.
Corpoica Radical Jijí is adapted to the subregion of the coffee-growing area and in the areas of the Santander mountains of the Guanentá and Comuneros provinces with undulating relief, slopes of 12 % and higher, and soils of moderate fertility that are very susceptible to erosion. It is a variety highly resistant to anthracnose (Colletotrichum lindemuthianum) and moderately tolerant to angular spot (Phaeoisariopsis polygoni), powdery mildew (Cercospora vanderysti), rust (Uromyces phaseoli), ascochuta (Ascochyta phaseolorum), root rot (Fusarium sp., Pythium spp.) and belly rot (Rhizoctonia solani). All contribute to reducing production losses.
