Animal Breeding
Produces semen straws and cryopreserved embryos by conventional and in vitro methods in different animal species, which producers can use to improve performance and accelerate genetic gain in their livestock systems.

Animal reproduction laboratories produce pure or crossed bovine embryos using conventional or sexed seminal material. In addition, bovine semen straws from selected bulls with high genetic values.
The laboratories have three main areas of work: andrology, embryology, and cell manipulation. It also has field facilities for handling a limited number of animals.
The Nation's Animal Germplasm Bank of Creole Breeds is located in this Network. In addition, this network has ICA certification for producing seminal material and embryos in production animals.
The Network of Animal Reproduction Laboratories has three laboratories in different research centers.

Bovine semen straws: available for the BON (Blanco Orejinegro), Romosinuano, Costeño con cuernos, Sanmartinero, Simmental, Kiwi-Jersey, and Brahman breeds, from selected bulls with high genetic values. |
Bovine embryos: pure or crossed embryos produced from the BON, Romosinuano, red Brahman, gray Brahman, and Gyr breeds, using conventional or sexed seminal material. |
Embryo maquila for in vitro production and fresh or cryopreserved delivery. |
Bull semen of high genetic value
Semen straws from Blanco Orejinegro (BON), Romosinuano, Simmental, Kiwi-Jersey, and Zebu breeds selected through performance tests and high breeding values for productive traits. We offer semen-freezing services obtained from resident breeders in our facilities or seminal material collected in the field and sent to the laboratory. The cryopreservation process and the obtainment of the final product are carried out using automated equipment for marking, packing, sealing, and freezing the straws and implementing computerized systems for sperm quality analysis.
Embryos produced from parents of high genetic value
Embryos of different animal species produced by conventional or in vitro fertilization techniques from gametes (ovules and spermatozoa) from parents of high genetic value, using conventional or sexed semen. In the case of bovines, these gametes can be obtained from AGROSAVIA's highly selected donor bulls and cows or external animals belonging to the user. Embryo maquila service is offered in which the user sends the eggs and sperm to the laboratory, where embryos are produced in vitro. These can be delivered fresh or cryopreserved. Frozen embryos can be used in direct transfer processes.
