Entomology
The Network has technical capacities to carry out research on the behavior of pests and beneficial insects, biological control, population dynamics, insect breeding with standardized protocols, identification and characterization of insect populations, and chemical ecology studies. The study models are generally carried out on crops of agricultural importance at the national level.

Colección Taxonómica Nacional de Insectos "Luis María Murillo” [the National Taxonomic Collection of Insects "Luis María Murillo"] is included in this Network. It is a national and international reference, available for consultation by specialists. In addition, it has an exhibition of insects of agricultural importance, which schools and universities can visit, as well as the general public interested in consulting crop pest insects.
The Network of Entomology Laboratories is located in 12 research centers and one regional headquarters, distributed throughout the national territory.
Available services
Production and maintenance of Lepidoptera hatchlings under laboratory conditions.
This service consists of continuously producing insects with artificial and natural diets and in the required quantities, becoming a fundamental input for carrying out research projects to find alternatives for managing crops of economic importance, thus, contributing to technical change in the agricultural sector.
