Description
AlimenTro® is a free access information system whose main objective is to provide information to different actors in the animal production sector in Colombia on the identity, characteristics, and appropriate use of food resources available at the regional and local level, contributing to the development and appropriate use of these resources in animal feeding systems.
It also supports the producer in decision-making in designing and formulating animal feeding systems based on information on the chemical composition and nutritional value of eleven categories of food resources associated with the agroclimatic planning of the national territory according to their nature, origin, and availability.
The eleven categories available are:
- Forage grasses
- Forage legumes
- Fodder trees and non-leguminous shrubs
- Other forages
- Cereal grains and by-products
- Legume grains and by-products
- Oilseed plants and by-products
- Roots, tubers, and by-products
- Fruits and by-products
- Fats and vegetable oils.
- Sugars and by-products.
