Description
The beta-casein gene variant identification service (A1/A2) is a molecular analysis tool that allows individual identification of beta-casein gene variants in cattle, which can be associated with characteristics of interest for the dairy sector. This characteristic shows a positive association with milk yield, protein content, and better properties for the production of dairy products.
The result of the analysis is assessed using bioinformatic tools to determine the presence of specific mutations versus a reference pattern, to finally issue the report on the type of variant the animal has in its genome (A1A1 or A1A2 or A2A2).
The molecular genetics laboratory provides this service.
