Cocoa Innovation Network
Mission
Contribute to improving the competitiveness of the cocoa production system through the generation and transfer of knowledge and technological offers (TO) generated in the corporation and by third parties, promoting its environmental, social, and economic sustainability in the main producing departments of the country.
Vision
In 2028, the Network will be recognized nationally and internationally as a multidisciplinary research group in the cocoa production system, which manages knowledge in the network, making effective use of available genetic resources to be appropriated and generating technological offers for producers, through alliances with science and technology institutions, and other actors in the production chain.
-
Generate technological and knowledge solutions, which contribute to increasing productivity, sustainability and competitiveness of cocoa production systems, and to improving the quality of life of producers.
-
Generate integrated management practices, focused on improving the competitiveness of the cocoa production system in the main producing departments.
-
Develop disease-resistant varieties with higher productivity and quality, contributing to strengthening the cocoa production system.
-
Design and validate agroforestry systems that contribute to strengthening family agriculture and the sustainability of production systems.
-
Design and validate protocols and prototypes for processing cocoa beans and subproducts of the production system, by improving the postharvest and agroindustrial transformation processes
-
Generate strategies to reduce bean absorption of heavy metals to permissible levels, contributing to cocoa innocuousness for its commercialization in national and international markets.
-
Implement integrated phytosanitary management schemes to reduce the incidence of pests and diseases in the cocoa production system.
-
Link the technological solutions generated by AGROSAVIA’s Cocoa Network, to the support of the technology transfer department.
