  • A strategic alliance between AGROSAVIA and the Government of Cundinamarca promotes sustainable agricultural development.

Mosquera, Cundinamarca. February 12, 2024. The collaboration between the Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Department of Cundinamarca and Corporación colombiana de investigación agropecuaria (AGROSAVIA) gave rise to the project: "Combine Technical, Administrative and Financial Efforts to Create Planning Tools through Soil Analysis." This project, financed by the Government of Cundinamarca, has as its main objective to strengthen the geographic information system of the Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Department of Cundinamarca through digital mapping and to provide farmers with the necessary tools for effective agricultural planning through soil analysis.

Within this project's framework, 1,852 complete fertility analyses were carried out, including soil texture and apparent density, distributed in 37 municipalities of Cundinamarca. These analyses have allowed us to obtain crucial information on the chemical characteristics of local soils and have benefited 1,852 producers selected by the Government of Cundinamarca and the municipal mayors' offices.

The importance of these analyses lies in their contribution to the prosperous and sustainable development of the agricultural sector in Cundinamarca. Knowing the characteristics of the soil is essential for making decisions related to fertilization and other agricultural practices. These data are not only used by local authorities in agricultural planning but are also an invaluable tool for producers themselves, allowing them to optimize their processes and sustainably increase their productivity.

AGROSAVIA stands out for offering high-quality and precision soil analysis. Its laboratory is accredited with the NTC 17025 standard, guaranteeing the reliability of the results. In addition, its automated service facilitates management with producers through various communication channels, such as online portals, text messages, and email. AGROSAVIA's team of agronomy professionals is always available to answer farmers' technical queries and offer expert guidance.

One of the main advantages of AGROSAVIA's soil analyses is its machine learning system, which uses algorithms to predict the amount of nutrients needed, thus streamlining the process and providing faster responses to farmers. In addition, the project offers the convenience of carrying out logistics and payment from the municipalities themselves, eliminating the need for producers to travel to the laboratory.

In this way, the collaboration between the Government of Cundinamarca and AGROSAVIA represents a significant step towards strengthening the agricultural sector in the region. Thanks to this innovative project, Cundinamarca farmers have the tools and support necessary to optimize their processes and contribute to the sustainable development of agriculture in the department.
