AGROSAVIA at the Launching of Territorial Routes of the European Union, Italian Development Cooperation Agency and FAO

Pasto, Nariño. August 23, 2023. On August 9, 10, and 11, the event "Launching of Territorial Routes 2023–2024" was held, in which the new territorial projects supported by Programa de Desarrollo Rural con Enfoque Territorial (DRET II) [the Rural Development Program with a Territorial Approach] that will promote public policies for rural development of the regions were disclosed. AGROSAVIA presented the project “Design of a productive reconversion plan in the buffer zone of the Doña Juana páramo complex, Department of Nariño, within the framework of national public policies.”

This project was formulated by the Obonuco Research Center work team headed by Diego Hernán Meneses Buitrago, M.Sc. Researcher, with the support, management, and mobilization of international cooperation resources by the Intensive and Sustainable Production Department, led by Ph.D. Researcher Martha Marina Bolaños, in alliance with Parques Nacionales Naturales de Colombia [National Natural Parks of Colombia], and financed by the European Union through the Italian Development Cooperation Agency and FAO. This event was held in the city of Bogota.

In addition to the initiative presented by AGROSAVIA, 12 projects were presented at the event, formulated by entities from different regions of the national territory, from departments such as Amazonas, Antioquia, Boyacá, Cesar, Putumayo, Nariño, Santander, Tolima, and Valle del Cauca.

Diego Hernán Meneses Buitrago indicated that “…This space allowed disclosing the processes that are being carried out by AGROSAVIA, from the Intensive and Sustainable Production Department and the Obonuco Research Center, towards the productive reconversion of conventional agricultural and livestock systems affected by climate variability and change, located in the buffer zones of páramo complexes and their transition towards agroecological production, in this case, for the Doña Juana Páramo Complex in the Municipality of La Cruz, in Nariño…”.
