Montería, Córdoba, June 19, 2026. At the latest edition of the National Livestock Fair held in Montería, Córdoba, AGROSAVIA’s Turipaná Research Center delivered an outstanding performance at the 2nd National Romosinuano Breed Judging Competition 2026, consolidating its position as one of the leading references for the breed at the national level.
Jorge Mejía, Research Support Professional at the Corporation, stated that “during the event, 11 animals achieved first place in their respective categories, demonstrating the superiority of the specimens presented. In addition, the herd obtained 3 second-place awards, 1 third-place award, and 1 fourth-place award, highlighting the consistency of the work carried out across the different groups evaluated.” These achievements reflect the genetic quality, technical management, and continuous efforts developed through the breed selection and improvement program.
Another of the most significant accomplishments was the achievement of 7 championships, distinctions reserved for the best animals in each division. In addition, the herd secured 4 Grand Championships, the highest recognition awarded to the most outstanding specimens across the entire exhibition, further strengthening its leadership within the Romosinuano breed.
This exceptional performance was complemented by two of the most prestigious institutional recognitions awarded at the event: “Best Exhibitor,” which honors the herd with the most outstanding performance in the show ring, and “Best Breeder,” which recognizes the comprehensive work in animal selection, genetic breeding, and the development of animals bred and raised within the program itself,” added Mejía Luquez. These awards reaffirm the excellence of the breeding program and its contribution to the strengthening and conservation of the Romosinuano breed in Colombia.
