AGROSAVIA strengthens agricultural knowledge through technology update workshops

Pasto, Nariño. July 23, 2026. The Obonuco Research and Technology Transfer Center of AGROSAVIA, in collaboration with the Technical Assistance Directorate of the Rural Development Agency (ADR) and Corpoagrocentro, successfully concluded a total of ten technology update workshops to strengthen the capacities of producers benefiting from the Departmental Agricultural Extension Plan (PDEA) in the department of Nariño.

With the objective of supporting agricultural extension services in Colombia, particularly in the department of Nariño, within the framework of the National Agricultural Innovation System (SNIA), the Obonuco Research and Technology Transfer Center of AGROSAVIA, through a strategic partnership with the Technical Assistance Directorate of the Rural Development Agency (ADR) and Corpoagrocentro, conducted ten technology update workshops between May and June. These activities were organized around two major work areas: (i) the crop production pathway, covering topics such as soil management, quality seed, bioproducts, and integrated pest and disease management, with particular emphasis on the Purple Top complex; and (ii) sustainable cattle and guinea pig production, focused on the principles of animal nutrition and supplementation, integrated soil and forage resource management, agroclimatology, and silvopastoral systems as adaptation and mitigation practices for climate change.

Throughout these workshops, more than 550 participants from 24 municipalities across the department of Nariño took part, further reinforcing the role of the Obonuco Research and Technology Transfer Center as an open platform for knowledge management, the exchange of expertise and experiences, and the consolidation of regional collaboration networks.

Having had the opportunity to welcome participants from more than 20 municipalities and provide training on cutting-edge topics, positions the Obonuco Research and Technology Transfer Center as a key stakeholder in the transformation of Colombia’s agricultural sector,” stated representatives of the Center.

Through initiatives such as these, AGROSAVIA reaffirms its commitment to sustainable rural development and to the social management of knowledge and practices that help transform the reality of Colombia’s agricultural sector, making it more competitive, sustainable, and resilient.
