- This gathering aims to go beyond the mere dissemination of knowledge: it seeks to build a strong regional scientific community, connected to international networks, that works toward sustainable and resilient agriculture.
Bucaramanga, Santander. July 22, 2025. AGROSAVIA, through its La Suiza Research Center, is pleased to announce the International Symposium on Plant Stress: Foundations for the Development of Efficient, Sustainable, and Climate-Resilient Production Systems. This pioneering event in the region will take place from September 15 to 17 at the Guatiguará Technology Park in Piedecuesta, Santander.
The Symposium aims to go beyond knowledge transmission. Its main goal is to train attendees in the understanding, measurement, and management of plant stress induced by climate change, in order to foster truly sustainable agriculture. Additionally, it seeks to forge a robust regional scientific community, connected to international networks, that promotes agricultural resilience.
Who Should Attend?
This event is designed for:
- Undergraduate and graduate students in biology, forest engineering, agronomy, environmental engineering, and related fields.
- Professionals from the agricultural, biological, and environmental sectors.
What Are the Benefits of Participating?
- Connect with International Scientific Networks: The event will feature five international experts from Brazil, the United Kingdom, Ecuador, and the United States, alongside prominent researchers from renowned Colombian universities such as the Industrial University of Santander (UIS), National University of Colombia – Medellín Campus, University of Córdoba, and University of the Amazon, as well as AGROSAVIA’s technical-scientific team.
- Be Part of a Global Community: With the aim of building a strong regional scientific community integrated with international networks, the symposium will offer integrative approaches, the exchange of experiences, and the construction of cooperation networks that transcend geographic and disciplinary boundaries.
- Impact the Future of Agriculture: The core purpose of the Symposium is to encourage the adoption of conceptual and methodological tools to study plant stress, analyze its implications in the context of climate change, and design more sustainable agricultural management strategies.
- Gain Cutting-Edge Practical Tools: In addition to keynote lectures, and for those interested in deepening their knowledge, two simultaneous hands-on minicourses will be offered. These will cover physiological measurement tools — such as photosynthesis and gas exchange — and laboratory techniques for diagnosing pests and diseases. This comprehensive approach will provide applied skills to tackle real-world challenges in tropical agricultural settings.
