- Suika chocolate is a recent product of Corporación Colombiana de Investigación Agropecuaria, AGROSAVIA, composed of four cacao varieties, TCS 01, TCS 06, TCS 13, and TCS 19, which are part of the technological offer available from the entity.
Bucaramanga, Santander. December 22, 2023. Suika chocolate, born from the La Suiza Research Center to make cocoa producers aware of one of the various marketing options of this productive system, won an award in the Second National Colombian Chocolate Contest, directed by International Chocolate Awards.
In the 2023 edition of the Colombian Cocoa and Chocolate Show in Arauquita, recognitions were granted to different chocolates around the country, among which Suika obtained the Silver recognition in the Micro-batch – Plain/origin dark chocolate bars modality, among more than 100 competing chocolates.
In this contest, different modalities are judged, ranging from the Bean-to-Bar line with simple original and flavored bars to artisanal chocolate products, such as truffles, ganaches, pralines, candies, and fondants, among others.
With 'the taste of science,' AGROSAVIA is committed to fine chocolate making with its varieties, which have differential physical and organoleptic traits, with diverse marketing options for Colombian cocoa farmers interested in planting these varieties.
To participate in the contest, AGROSAVIA, from the La Suiza Research Center, carried out a rigorous postharvest process that managed to capture the characteristics of chocolate coming from fine cocoa varieties in flavor and aroma, expecting to strengthen the link between the technological offer available for cocoa.
